A Sustainable House Tour

Today's House Tour is courtesy of Traditional Homes Mag, though I would say this home is anything but traditional.  A total of 19 designers worked on the 18 rooms in this spacious show house in Virginia to raise $$$ for a charity in Washington, DC.  Who knew that sustainable and green design could be so...so chic?  I certainly didn't. 

 A lush bed of native flowers and trees shade the front door and provide lots of natural shade.  Other parts of this house are outfitted with solar panels as well.

I love pretty much everything about the mantel and the fireplace:  the black lacquer, the high-glossy white and nailhead trim. I'm especially in love with that centerpiece on the mantel. 

I really like what the designers did with these 8'windows and glass doors.  Notice the floor to ceiling curtains open up to expose lovely framed pictures just above the trim...definitely an interesting way to fill that space.

I love the idea of an open kitchen and these designers surely made it work, with only a sheer black partition separating the kitchen from the dining area (see picture above).

Elle Decor House Tour

So the following house tour was featured in the March issue of Elle Decor.  I'm not in love with this loft decorated by Juan Carlos Arcila-Duque, mostly because it is kind of masculine to me.  It's also too white and New York loft-y looking.  But I did really enjoy the slightly colorful decor of the living room and I do love this fellow's bookcase.  But that's mostly because I really need a bookcase (I am accepting donations, fyi.)  Either way, check out the rest of the house tour here....and here are the tidbits of the tour that I took a liking to:

Atlanta House Tour

I decided to take a look at some of the houses and condos in Atlanta, and I found this one featured in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Magazine. Lee Kleinhelter and her husband, Kevin, live in a high-rise above Peachtree Street that manages to be glam, modern, spacious and airy. It's absolutely beautiful. The palette is neutral, mostly white, with little pops of yellow, brown and black. Gorgeous! Take a look at the love below:
