My Favorite DIY Projects Around the Blogosphere

Hello Readers,

 I was to post this yesterday, but I've been having laptop troubles.  You see, I was making the most delicious grilled ham and gouda sandwich a couple of days ago when I decided that it would taste delicious with some cab. sauv.  Well...wouldn't you know, I sat down to do some work then with my fancy ham sandwich and glass of wine and then I got up and decided to move my laptop and spilled a glass of wine all over my laptop keyboard.  It's currently in lockdown and well, it's just lucky that I received my new desktop over the weekend because I can't imagine life without the Internets.   Oh well...


So, I love DIY projects and I've posted a couple in the past.  But I've spent a lot of time scouring my favorite websites and blogs for DIY projects that I had saved (on my laptop).  So, I'd like to share some of my favorites that I'll be working on in the weeks and months to come. • Centsational Girl always, and I do mean always has really great DIY projects.  I love this Poinsettia Pillow and I when I had been searching for ideas for my kidney-shaped vanity table, I came across this silver dresser/night stand combo.  I am in so enamored with the idea of silver, teal and yellow and I would love to try that out with my vanity, which is in my bedroom.

• Printed Burlap Chair via Design Sponge
• Grace's Upholstered Otomi Headboard via Design Sponge....  I have to admit, I'm not crazy about this fabric.  However, I am totally gaga over the shape and the quality of the upholstery job.  I would definitely try a nailhead trim with this too.  Lovely!

DIY Valentine's Day Gifts

Personally, my dear blog readers, I believe a handmade gift is one made with a little bit more love.  You could also buy something with a little more love (for a little more $$$), but I cannot.  I am monetarily challenged and I have been since, oh let's say Thanksgiving.  Nevertheless, I am going to make my Valentine's Day gifts for my parents and some close friends.  I guess I am just in the mood for love...

September is National Sewing Month

In honor of National Sewing Month, I've decided to make a list and now I'm checking it twice for DIY/Decor Projects that require thread and needle:

1. Dining Chair Cushions
2. Floor Pillows
3. Slipcover for my bedroom ottoman
4. Reupholstering for my club chair
5. Curtains for living room

• WHOA....I have a lot of work to do. Also, I need to brush up on my sewing.

Some Blog Lovin'

Hello All,

I just wanted to send some blog love to Kate from Censational Girl, a blogger who really knows her way around fabric, paint and a plethora of "DIY" tools. Mostly, I'm in blog love because she buys old items on the cheap (a $12 vintage headboard, for example) and remakes them into gorgeous objects for very little cost to her (that headboard is now a coat-rack). Her DIY projects don't seem intimidating at all, which is good for people like me, who are very new to DIY and can barely make their way around with thread and needle.
