Inspiration: The Yellow Wallpaper

Today's post was inspired by a short story I read a few month's ago called "The Yellow Wallpaper,"  by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.  Now, I won't get too much in plot summary or synopsis, but I do recommend it if you like gothic/horror stories or women's literature.  The story in a nutshell, is about a woman who's confined to 'bed rest' as a treatment for her psychosis and is driven (deeper) into psychosis by "ugly yellow wallpaper."  But I love yellow... and I can't imagine the right yellow wallpaper (or paint for that matter) driving me crazy.  Can you?  The following yellow wallpapers and paint are absolutely fabulous, don't you think?

The great thing about yellow wallpaper is that you can find in a wide range of hues: bright yellow, saffron, cream, topaz, ocher.  Plus, yellow wallpaper with a print can help cut down on some of that brightness.

Panels are a great way to incorporate yellow wallpaper, too!

Yellow paint is bright yes, but it can also be beautiful.  The last image is my favorite.  I don't know that I could pull that off, but I love the pure, bold hues of the yellow and turquoise and the overall simplicity of the lines.  Gorgeous!
