eBay Finds: Vintage "Hollywood Regency" Pieces

It's a new year and I'm baaaaack with regularly scheduled programming.
Now...everyone across the Inter and in my real life knows about love and undying passion for eBay.   Half of wardrobe and my whole shoe and handbag selection are eBay goodies.  So...I thought I'd do you all a favor a show you my favorite eBay finds every week.  Today, I've got some gorgeous (and affordable) vintage "hollywood regency" pieces.

It's like Oprah's Favorite Things, except, I'm not Oprah and I'm not buying any of these for any of you.

Target Regency Collection

So last night I was surfing the Internets when I happened upon Target's Regency Collection.  These items are super chic and pretty darn cheap to boot.  Here are some of my favorite pieces....enjoy:

eBay Finds of the Day

Dearest Blog-Readers,

I am back on my eBay kick. I'd been avoiding it since my work hours were cut in half which prevented me from buying lovely, vintage Hollywood Regency or Modern lovelies. Oh well, I'm still window-shopping per se. And honestly, there are so many fantastic things on eBay. It's like going to one of those stores where you love just about everything. Oh well, enjoy the eBay finds below. I'm totally checking out those French yellow nightstands and that silver headboard to be honest.

Full Metal Headboard

Brass Chiavari Chair

Dining Side Chairs by Henredon

Silver French Headboard- King

French Decorative Nightstand

*I really love this silver headboard. I have a duvet cover with a metallic-y sea foam green triple piping and these shams from West Elm:

*Anyway, my plan is to 'accessorize with some turquoise throw pillows and a blankie and I think really think yellow would make the turquoise POP! I don't know about the metallic on metallic though. What do you think? I'm not buying anything anytime soon, so I have time to really think about this.*

My eBay At a Glance....

I have been very busy this past week, what with working on my site, painting these dining room chairs, assembling an Ikea table and working and educating myself. But since my birthday was yesterday, I gave myself a little shopping spree on eBay and found some amazing pieces that I can't wait to incorporate into my increasingly lovely, though still spartan, apartment. Take a look at the love below:

"What's Your Style In One Picture?" Challenge

So.....I had been perusing the blog files for travel-related or specific blogs when I happened upon From the Right Bank to the Left Coast.

Anyway, Alek, From the Right Bank has a really interesting Summer challenge right now. The challenge is to describe your style in one picture, which is more difficult than you might think. For instance, I started this blog as narrative of decorating my first apartment in the Hollywood Regency style. But in these two-three short months that my blog has been up and running, I've found that my style is not so cut and dry as "Hollywood Regency." I've seen so many other styles and designs, I've often felt like a kid in a candy shop: "Should I have jelly beans or chocolate coins or pixie stix....or maybe, some chocolate-covered pretzels?" You get the idea.

I also wondered, what room would I choose? Having my own kitchen, dining room, bedroom and living room and so forth is really alien to me. I finally wrestled between home office (because my year-end goal is to become a working freelance writer) and the bedroom, because I never paid much attention to it before. So here it goes. I finally went with this slightly goofy, weird home office designed by Jonathan Adler, in his book, My Prescription for Anti-Depressive Living. I chose it because, well, as in my last post, my home office is eventually going to be in my closet. It's an abnormally large closet, but it has so much potential, and a girl can only dream of having such a quirky home office as this:

  1. Quirky
  2. Graphic
  3. Bold
  4. B & W with a POP of color (more like a BANG!)
  5. Shapely
  6. Fun in an absurd way
Personally, I love everything about this design. Right down to the silver water pitcher, the glasses and those glossy-black Chinese Chippendale chairs. I think I want my dining room chairs to look like that (and no, I haven't finished them yet).
I think that sums up what I want my style to ultimately reflect, me. I'm not bold person, per se. I don't have a bold or loud personality or anything like that. But I am quirky and shapely and fun in an absurd way + I do wear lots of bold colors (not all at once, of course!) The point is, I'll be 25 years old in two weeks, and I am just now beginning to understand and determining a style that's all my own. So, thanks for that challenge, Alek.

My eBay At a Glance....

I love eBay and I've spent the better part of the weekend watching, bidding and buying things now. I found this great vintage black and white ice bucket that I will use for my little bar. I also used Polyvore to create a mood-board to compose images and ideas. I love that I can compose and collect ideas for my space and these mood-board thingies give a little bit of reality to my overactive imagination.

I'm a tad iffy about this mirror (above) from Ballard Design because it's not exactly what I want. I had my heart set on a lovely green faux bamboo mirror on eBay, but I was outbid. For those of you who don't know, faux bamboo mirrors are 1) hard to find and 2) expensive. So I was disappointed when I lost, but I'm keeping my hopes up that I will find the (affordable) faux bamboo mirror of my dreams. If any of you come across a lovely, reasonably-priced faux-bamboo mirror, please let me know. Now you may ask, "Why would you want a mirror for your bar area?" And to that I would retort, "I can't possibly be the only girl who likes to watch herself pour or make a drink." Am I?

FYI, with the exception of the champagne flute (available at Ikea), the bar ware and cocktail shaker are available through my Amazon shop. Just click here to view this and other dinner and flatware that I've handpicked just for this shop:)

And finally; below are some of my newly found treasures from eBay's trove. I'm bidding on the mirror as we speak, some are in my watch list and some are already mine. You'll all see what goes where when I finally get around to buying some furniture.

Ebay Finds of the Day

As my mother and friends and some strangers will tell you, I love ebay. It is the most serious retail relationship that I have ever been in. There are unique and lovely pieces that would never be found in stores today. So on that note, I'm making a list of the pieces of art, linen, furniture and decor that I've been watching right here.

Mid-century Italian Caged Glass Lamp

What did I tell you? Beautiful pieces and that's not even a quarter of my "Watching/Wanting" list. Not everything on ebay is cheap or worth the bargain, though. Particularly furniture. That lovely tufted headboard is $899. Even if the furniture is affordable, shipping and handling fees are usually monstrous. But if you're patient and find the perfect chair or lamp or whatever that you might not ever find in a store near you, then those fees are little bit more tolerable.

I definitely encourage anyone who is even remotely interested in vintage/antique anything to check out Ebay though. Please note that you run the risk of becoming an addict like me:) Happy hunting!

I LOVE Ebay!
