Wishlist: Wool Capes

Just because it's cold, cloudy and snowing doesn't mean one can't be fashionable. As soon as I happen upon a pot of gold or perhaps a bag full of cash I'm loading up on warm winter capes like these...

I'm Loving...

... everything about this lovely lady's outfit.  I'm going to go eBay hunting for a wrap coat and a croc handbag. I'll report back later!

One of this season's hottest silhouettes, the wrap coat is a great alternative to the traditional toggle or sporty puffer jacket.SHOP NOW: Wrap Coat

Fashion Inspiration: Camel Tones

One of my favorite trends in color for Spring 2011 RTW shows was the plethora of camel: a light-colored tint of brown that translates beautifully in the home as well.  I've gathered some of my favorite accessories and furniture in my new favorite color: camel.

New Jersey...Dresses!

I can feel the slightest cool in the air in the morning, which means that this brutally hot summer is finally, finally coming to a close.  That means that I get to go shopping soon for new jersey dresses...get it?  I love jersey dresses because they're cool enough for Indian summers; throw a blazer or trench over them, wear them into the fall; add leggings or tights...tada...winter wear!  Here is a short wishlist of new jersey dresses that I'd love to add to my wardrobe.

Petit Bateau Silk Cotton Jersey Belted Dress in Japan Blue, ASOS.com $126.38

Trend Alert! Truly Nude Heels

There has always, I think, been a bit of hoopla surrounding the term 'nude' when it comes to clothes and fashion.  Why?  Because nude is often only nude when held up against pale skin (in fashion, anyways), so the question always comes up.  Whose nude is it anyway?  Dictionaries alternately define 'nude' as having the color nude; being dressed as without clothing (which hints at skin-colored clothing, not nakedness); and as a light grayish yellow brown to a brownish-pink.  But nude is somewhat inaccurate isn't it?

I'm posting today, having been inspired by this post on Jezebel on nude heels, which I love.  Everyone loves 'nude' heels (or should love them) because they give the illusion of leggy legs and because they're super versatile. But my 'nude' heels come in an array of colors.  I have a couple of blush pink shoes which would be 'nude' on one person, and a pair of beloved platform Jessica Simpson booties in a chocolate hue that more closely matches my skin tone and is therefore, also 'nude.'

Without essaying further on the politics of nude in fashion, I thought it'd be fun to at least show an array of nude heels that come in an array of colors that may be 'nude,' or at the very least neutral.  They are, of course, all beautiful and one day when I'm Carrie Bradshaw/Mr.Big- rich, I would gladly own each and every last pair of these beautiful 'nude' heels.  A girl can only hope...

Trend Alert! Stripes

Ok, I don't know if stripes are so much a trend, as much as a perennial classic.  I see them over and over again, each year.  Nautical stripes, vertical stripes, etc.  I'm really fawning over the plethora of striped dresses this season, and for some reason, I think I could maybe pull them off. But I love these dresses here:

The great thing about stripes, though, is that not only are they versatile fashion staples, they look great throughout the home too.  I think that a simple vertical or horizontal stripe can act as a neutral or as an accessory.  Check out my stripe trend that I found for the home as well:

Trends: Gold Oxfords and Loafers

I have been seeing these a lot lately and while I normally abhor fashion trends, I am smitten with the look and variety of gold loafers and oxfords.  I have a pair of mustard yellow bow flats that always feel a little more dressy than my black flats and I'm thinking that some gold flats would feel luxurious and rich...that's just me, though.
